Theology of Transformation
A theology of transformation flows from the belief that God and the universe are creative, inter-relational, interdependent, and interconnected. God is present in every moment of existence and intimately connected to every entity in the universe—not just human beings.
A theology of transformation proclaims that this presence works creatively, persuasively, in every moment, by offering to all of creation a vision of wholeness and well-being and inviting participation in that vision.
A theology of transformation acknowledges that we are:
- Called by God to plant seeds of optimism and hope
- Called to trust that we are imbued with God’s image and God’s vision for this Earth
- Called to be co-creators with God for its well-being
- Called to trust that with God, there is always a creative, transforming power at work in the world—whatever the impasse, there is always a new beginning
- Called, in the spirit of hope, to make choices that promote justice and peace, wholeness and well-being.
No one act can save the world, but several of them, together, can make a difference. Our power isn’t in our individual acts, but in our connection with each other, in our inter-relatedness with God and creation, and God’s ongoing presence in our lives. This is the promise and power of a theology of transformation.
