Alcoholism, Addiction and Recovery

RecoveryWith its emphasis on the creative transforming power of God, many congregation members who struggled with addictive behavior, or found recovery through Twelve Step based groups have found the concepts of Process Theology to be a compatible addition to an overall process of life improvement.

Brea Congregational UCC recognizes how alcoholism, drug addiction and other addictive behaviors such as excessive gambling or compulsive eating can tear apart families, destroy lives, and damage the underpinnings of the community. But we have also seen the numerous examples of those who have turned away from the destructiveness of addiction. People who were once dismissed as hopeless have been able to harness the power of recovery and allow themselves to be transformed. To us, this is the ultimate expression of God’s healing love.

Please refer to this schedule for 12 step meetings held in Fellowship Hall at BCUCC. For additional information about the meetings themselves, you should contact the appropriate 12 step office. Links to these offices are located below this schedule.
